My introduction to cars started at an early age (9 years old) helping my father to repair & service them. At 16 years old I left school and started working at a local bus garage as an apprentice bus mechanic. After 5 years I became a fully qualified petrol and diesel fitter. Whilst doing this work I was trained up firstly for my car licence that included skid control and an early form of the theory test. I passed my driving test at 18 years old so have held my full car driving licence since 1976; secondly I was trained up for my Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence. I gained my PCV class 1 licence at 21 years old. On leaving this job I continued my training and became a Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) MOT tester for the government and in 1995 I qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and I am Pass Plus registered. Whilst being an ADI instructor I wanted to learn more on how else I could improve safety on the roads, under my training I became an accident / breakdown recovery driver. This allowed me to have more insight into accidents, how they occurred, dealing with insurance companies and being able to speak to people. I also encouraged a potential driving instructor (PDI) that I had trained into becoming an examiner. I am currently >> In~Control << Driving School's automatic instructor appealing to all learners who would prefer this option.
