Owner of >> In~Control << Driving School, Patrick Garner received an award from the Royal Humane Society for helping to save the life of an elderly man in the street.
In June 2002, whilst conducting an Emergency Fire Appliance Driving (EFAD) course, Patrick spotted an elderly male collapsed on the pavement being helped by another civilian. He immediately went to his aid. After 15 minutes of continuous resuscitation the man’s life was saved.
Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO), Martin Green, of the London Fire Brigade’s Driver and Marine Training said “It is typical of Patrick that he wouldn’t turn a blind eye and that he handled the emergency in a positive and professional manner and in the finest traditions of the London Fire Brigade”.
